Global Managing Partner
The legal sector is experiencing its most competitive moment. And most firms will face it the same way they always have: a small group of partners who concentrate the business, a second tier waiting in the wings, and leadership that has yet to find a way to change that equation.
Marc Gericó has been working on that problem since 2011. Not as an outside observer. As a business partner who embeds himself within the project, understands the firm from the inside, and accompanies leadership in the decisions that define its direction: internationalisation, mergers, strategic repositioning, institutional crises, and the construction of growth models that do not depend on a single partner.
His perspective is uncommon because it combines rigorous business training and judgment with deep specialisation in the legal sector — built over more than fifteen years across multiple markets. He operates in Spain, Europe, the Americas and the Middle East. And what makes that reach possible is not merely geographic presence: it is position.
Marc has deliberately built the reference ecosystem of the Ibero-American legal sector — an environment where the most prominent firms and General Counsel from multinationals such as Ferrovial, Banco Santander, Telefónica, Microsoft, Repsol and Coca-Cola share space, conversation and information. That simultaneous access to both sides of the legal market, sustained over years and across multiple geographies, gives him a perspective on the legal business that cannot be constructed any other way.
There is a body of work that drives much of his activity — and that few people are doing with the same level of consistency: identifying and developing the leaders who will run firms in the next stage. Founding partners built the business. They rarely have the time, the distance, or the mandate to develop those who must carry it forward. Marc does this through Legal Rainmakers, the Gericó Academy programme designed specifically to turn high-potential lawyers into business developers with their own strategic judgment.
In 2015, he served as a reputation advisor and member of the Crisis Committee during the Insolvency Administration of Banco Madrid. The conclusion that has shaped his work ever since: reputation is not managed through narratives. It is sustained — or lost — through decisions.
The ecosystem he has built:
He has published commentary and analysis in Forbes, El Confidencial, Expansión and Cinco Días. He has served on the Organising Committee of the World Law Congress, is an Advisory Board Member of the Legal Marketing Association (USA), and is co-author of a reference work on law firm management.
His academic background includes a Double Degree in Business Administration and Marketing and a Legal MBA in Law Firm Management, a foundation upon which he has developed a specialization in leadership, strategy and business development applied to the legal sector, completed with executive education at Harvard Law School.
