Foro Gerencias Legales Miami 2026 will be held on Thursday 11 June 2026 at Akerman’s offices in Miami, reinforcing the city’s position as a key hub for senior in-house legal leadership in the region.

Organised by Gericó Associates, the forum has become a benchmark platform where general counsel and partners from leading law firms examine how regulation, artificial intelligence and reputational risk are reshaping the strategic role of legal departments within organisations.

In a context defined by increasing regulatory complexity on both sides of the Atlantic and the rapid technological transformation of business, the role of the general counsel has evolved from a support function into a strategic lever in corporate decision-making. This is the backdrop that gives this year’s agenda its relevance and urgency.

The programme opens with one of the issues placing greatest pressure on legal departments today: how to manage reputation, crises and litigation when any dispute can become global within hours. From media scrutiny to regulatory investigations, the first panel will explore how companies are responding in markets where exposure leaves no room for error.

Compliance and risk management will be the focus of the second session, at a time when regulatory frameworks continue to shift and regulatory tolerance is narrowing on both sides of the Atlantic. The discussion will address evolving frameworks, detection tools and, above all, how to build a genuine culture of compliance within organisations operating across multiple jurisdictions.

Miami has been consolidating its position as a leading legal hub for Latin America and the United States for several years, and the third panel will address this directly: why the city is becoming a natural centre for international arbitration in the region and what this means for companies operating from Miami.

Financial sustainability and capital markets will take centre stage in the fourth session, with a focus on an issue that is redefining the legal agenda of many companies: new green financial products and the role legal departments play in structuring them.

The fifth panel will examine international expansion, including mergers, acquisitions and cross-border transactions, as well as the increasingly strategic role assumed by general counsel when companies grow beyond their domestic markets from a base in the United States.

The closing session will focus on artificial intelligence. Automation, cybersecurity and corporate governance in the digital era will shape the sixth panel, which will address legal challenges that are no longer emerging trends but everyday realities for regional businesses.

The forum will bring together general counsel and legal leaders from some of the most relevant companies with operations in Latin America and the United States. Speakers will include Jorge Meneses, general counsel at Marsh McLennan; Valeria Plastino, EVP and chief compliance officer at Cirion Technologies; Francisco Pinilla, who leads Mastercard’s legal function for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean; Andrea Mon, global head of ethics, compliance and investigations at John Deere; Victoria Meni, associate general counsel at Airbnb for SSA Latam; and María Isabel Pradilla, assistant general counsel at Venture Global LNG.
